What Channel 37–40 is

Channel 37–40 runs between the Solar Plexus centre and the Heart centre. It forms only when both Gate 37 and Gate 40 are activated. A channel in this system is not something a person practises or develops — it is a fixed structural wire on the bodygraph, made of two specific gates, one seated at each end. Whether that wire is present in a given chart is not a matter of degree. Either both gates were activated by the planetary positions at the two calculation moments used to build the chart, or they were not. There is no partial channel and no channel that forms through effort. It is a position in a diagram, complete or incomplete, and the astronomy behind it is checkable rather than interpreted.

The two gates that make it

One end is Gate 37, seated in the Solar Plexus centre, rooted in I Ching hexagram 37, Kiâ Zăn. The other is Gate 40, seated in the Heart centre, rooted in hexagram 40, Kieh. Each gate can appear alone in a chart, and when it does, it is a potential rather than a completed structure — it defines nothing on its own and leaves both centres it might have joined open to the channel’s influence without settling it. Each gate carries its own page and its own account; this page concerns only what happens when both are present together and the wire between them closes.

What it defines

When both Gate 37 and Gate 40 are active, the channel forms and defines both the Solar Plexus centre and the Heart centre at once — neither is left partially settled. Because neither end of this channel sits at the Throat, this pairing has no bearing on the motor-to-Throat wiring that a chart’s type is derived from; it operates independently of that question. In the system’s own account, a defined centre tends to behave in a consistent, dependable way in its domain, running its own fixed pattern rather than depending on what is nearby. An undefined centre, by contrast, is described as more variable, taking in and amplifying what is around it rather than generating from a fixed pattern of its own. That description belongs to the interpretive layer, not to a measured fact.

How it is read

Within that interpretive layer, this pairing is sometimes read as a wire of steady accord — a link between felt intensity and negotiated warmth, where mood and bond are asked to hold together rather than pull apart. That reading is offered as a lens for reflection, not a tested claim, and it says nothing fixed about what having or lacking this channel means for any particular person. Whether Gate 37 and Gate 40 are both active in your own chart, completing this channel, is settled by exact calculation from your birth data, available at no cost through the chart tool.
