What the Solar Plexus centre is

The Solar Plexus centre is a motor and awareness centre — one of four motor centres in the bodygraph, meaning it belongs to the small set of centres that generate energy rather than simply process input. It is also known, in wide common usage, as the Emotional centre, and a reader arriving under that name is in the right place. Structurally, a centre is one of nine areas across which the chart’s 64 gates are distributed. It is not a personality trait or a metaphor but a defined position in the graph, and it is the unit from which the chart’s other derived layers — definition, authority, type — are computed. Whatever else gets said about this centre, that structural fact underlies it: it is a location in a fixed diagram, populated or not by particular gates according to where planets sat at two calculation moments in a person’s birth data.

The gates it carries

Seven of the 64 gates sit within the Solar Plexus centre: 6, 22, 30, 36, 37, 49 and 55. Each gate is a fixed position on the wheel rather than an action a person takes or a trait they express — it becomes active only when a planet occupied its specific degree range at one of the two moments the calculation uses. A gate on its own is a potential, not a definition. It defines nothing by itself; it needs its partner gate, at the other end of one of the channels listed below, also to be active before the channel completes. What defines it

A centre is DEFINED when a complete channel — both of its gates activated — connects it to another centre. It is UNDEFINED when no complete channel reaches it, even though at least one of its gates is active. It is OPEN when none of its gates are active at all. In everyday conversation "open" and "undefined" often get used as if they were the same thing; they are not, and the distinction matters when reading a chart precisely.

Seven channels have one end in the Solar Plexus centre, and each needs both its gates before it defines anything: 6–59 (Gate 6 here, Gate 59 in the Sacral), 12–22 (Gate 22 here, Gate 12 in the Throat), 19–49 (Gate 49 here, Gate 19 in the Root), 30–41 (Gate 30 here, Gate 41 in the Root), 35–36 (Gate 36 here, Gate 35 in the Throat), 37–40 (Gate 37 here, Gate 40 in the Heart), and 39–55 (Gate 55 here, Gate 39 in the Root). Through these, the centre can connect to the Sacral, Throat, Root or Heart. A chart with the Solar Plexus centre defined can take Emotional authority, though this sits within a fixed hierarchy that checks this centre first, then the Sacral, Spleen, Heart and G.

How it is read

In the system’s own interpretive language, a defined centre is described as a consistent, dependable way that part of the chart tends to operate, while an undefined or open centre is described as more variable, more shaped by whatever is around it. That is offered here as the system’s account, a lens for reflection rather than a tested claim, and it says nothing on its own about what a particular reader’s Solar Plexus centre means for them. Which of the nine centres, including this one, end up defined in any individual chart is not something to generalise about — it is computed from an exact birth date, time and place, and doing so costs nothing.
