What Channel 30–41 is

Channel 30–41 runs between the Solar Plexus centre and the Root centre. It forms only when both Gate 30 and Gate 41 are activated at once — one at each end of the wire. A channel of this kind is not a behaviour or a talent someone practises into being; it is a fixed structural position in the bodygraph, present or absent depending entirely on where the relevant planets sat at two calculation moments: the design calculation roughly three months before birth, and the birth moment itself. Software resolves this instantly and precisely, but the underlying question is binary — the channel is either complete in a given chart or it is not. There is no partial or aspirational version of it.

The two gates that make it

Gate 30 sits in the Solar Plexus centre and traces to I Ching hexagram 30, Lî. Gate 41 sits in the Root centre and traces to I Ching hexagram 41, Sun. Each gate can be activated on its own, by Sun, Earth, Moon, or any of the planets, without its partner — and when that happens it remains a single, isolated gate. A lone gate is a potential, not a definition; it does not complete the channel and it does not define either centre by itself. Each of these two gates carries its own separate page describing what its number and hexagram root indicate; this page is concerned only with what happens when both are present together.

What it defines

When Gate 30 and Gate 41 are both active in a chart, the channel between them is complete, and its completion defines both the Solar Plexus centre and the Root centre. Neither end of this channel touches the Throat, so it does not bear on the motor-to-Throat wiring from which type is derived — its presence or absence has no part in that particular determination. What it does affect, in the system’s own account, is how those two centres behave in the chart. A defined centre is described as running in a relatively fixed, dependable way for that individual — something consistent they bring rather than something they take in from others. An undefined centre, by contrast, is described as more open and variable, more responsive to whatever surrounds it. Whether Solar Plexus and Root land as defined or undefined for a given person depends on this channel and on whatever other gates and channels touch those two centres elsewhere in their chart.

How it is read

Interpretively, this pairing is sometimes read as a kind of restless momentum — an undertow that pulls pressure and feeling into forward motion, and motion back into feeling. That is a lens for reflection, not a tested mechanism, and it says nothing definite about any particular person who carries or lacks it.
