Human Design incarnation cross calculator: The name of your cross, and the four gates that make it.
Enter your birth date, time and place. We’ll find your incarnation cross from the exact moment you were born: its angle, the four gates the Sun and Earth held at birth and about 88 days before, and its name as Jovian Archive’s own chart prints it. Free, no email.
What the calculator reads
An incarnation cross is four gates: where the Sun and the Earth stood when you were born (your personality), and where they stood when the Sun was 88° of arc earlier (your design). The Earth is always opposite the Sun, so the four gates are two pairs facing each other across the wheel of 64.
For example, a birth at 12:00 UTC on 1 January 2000 has its personality Sun in Gate 38 and Earth in Gate 39, and its design Sun in Gate 48 and Earth in Gate 21. Its profile is 1/4, so it is the Right Angle Cross of Tension.

Right Angle, Juxtaposition or Left Angle
The angle comes from your profile, and your profile from the lines of the same two Suns. The cross is then named by its angle and by the gate of your birth Sun: three angles across 64 gates make 192 crosses.
| Angle | Profiles | Crosses | Names |
|---|---|---|---|
| Right Angle | 1/3, 1/4, 2/4, 2/5, 3/5, 3/6, 4/6 | 64 | 16 · one name covers 4 gate sets |
| Juxtaposition | 4/1 | 64 | 64 |
| Left Angle | 5/1, 5/2, 6/2, 6/3 | 64 | 32 · one name covers 2 gate sets |
Where the names come from
The 192 names are the ones Jovian Archive’s chart page prints: it loads a chart widget whose public label file holds every cross name beside its four gates. We checked that file against ten other published tables and kept its spelling where they differ (“Endeavor”, not “Endeavour”). We print the name and its gates, not a reading of what a cross means; each gate links to its own page.
How exact your birth time needs to be
Most crosses hold for days. Near a boundary they don’t: across 200,000 birth moments spread evenly over 1940–2025, moving the birth time an hour either way changed the cross for 4.31% of them (about 1 in 23), and fifteen minutes either way for 1.06%. Juxtaposition crosses are the narrow ones: 64.82% of them change within the hour. When yours does, the result names the cross an hour away.
If you don’t know your time, tick “I don’t know the time”: we use noon, and the result lists every cross your birth day can carry, with the time each one starts.
