Channel 29–46 — persistent commitment
What Channel 29–46 is
Channel 29–46 runs between the Sacral centre and the G centre, and it forms only when both Gate 29 and Gate 46 are activated in the same chart. A channel in this system is not a behaviour or a talent someone practises — it is a fixed structural position in the bodygraph, made of two specific gates, one sitting in each of the two centres it connects. Whether that position is complete is decided by where the relevant planets sat at two calculation moments: the moment of birth and the moment roughly (traditionally) eighty-eight days before it, calculated precisely by the chart-drawing process rather than approximated. There is no partial version of a channel — it is either fully wired, with both gates present, or it is absent, and the diagram simply shows a gap.
The two gates that make it
One end of this channel is Gate 29, seated in the Sacral centre, rooted in the I Ching hexagram Khân. The other end is Gate 46, seated in the G centre, rooted in the hexagram Shăng. Either gate can appear on its own in a chart without its partner — in that case it is a potential only, a single activated point that defines nothing on its own and forms no channel. Each gate carries its own distinct character and its own page describing it in isolation; this page is concerned only with what happens when both are present together and the wire between them completes.
What it defines
When both Gate 29 and Gate 46 are active in a single chart, the channel between them forms, and it defines both centres it touches: the Sacral centre and the G centre. Because one end sits in the Sacral — a motor centre — completing this channel is part of what gives a chart a defined Sacral, which is the condition this system reads as belonging to a Generator or a Manifesting Generator, depending on the rest of the configuration. The system describes a defined centre as a place of consistent, dependable output — something that behaves in a fairly stable way across circumstances — while an undefined centre is described as more variable, more responsive to whoever and whatever is nearby. This is the system’s own account of definition versus openness, not a claim being asserted here as fact.
How it is read
Interpretively, this wiring is sometimes read as a throughline of persistent commitment — a steady, body-led willingness to keep going once something has been said yes to, held by the identity-sense of the G centre rather than argued for by the mind. That is a lens offered for reflection, not a tested finding, and it says nothing certain about any individual who has or lacks it. Whether Channel 29–46 is actually complete in a given chart is a matter of calculation from an exact birth time and place, and it can be checked, free, with a proper chart tool rather than guessed at.
