What Channel 23–43 is

Channel 23–43 runs between the Throat centre and the Ajna centre, and it forms only when both Gate 23 and Gate 43 are activated. A channel in this system is not an action or a skill a person cultivates — it is a fixed wire in the bodygraph, a position that is either complete or not. That completeness is decided entirely by where the relevant planets sat at two calculation moments: the moment of birth and the moment roughly eighty-eight days prior. The chart is drawn from those positions, and a channel either shows solid and coloured in or it does not. There is no partial version, no channel that is half-working. Either Gate 23 and Gate 43 are both present in a given chart, in which case the wire is complete, or one is missing, in which case it simply is not there, and no amount of effort changes that fact after birth.

The two gates that make it

Gate 23 sits in the Throat centre and traces to the I Ching hexagram Po. Gate 43 sits in the Ajna centre and traces to the I Ching hexagram Kwâi. Each gate can appear in a chart on its own, without its partner, and when that happens it remains a potential rather than a working channel — it defines nothing by itself and leaves both centres it touches open to that connection. What it defines

When both Gate 23 and Gate 43 are activated, the channel forms and defines both the Throat centre and the Ajna centre in that chart. Because this channel reaches the Throat from a non-motor centre rather than from one of the system’s motor centres, it does not on its own create the kind of motor-to-Throat wiring that this system uses to derive a person’s type — that determination rests on other connections entirely. What this channel does contribute, when complete, is a fixed rather than variable quality to the two centres it joins. A defined centre is described in this system as a place of consistency, something dependable and steady in that domain of a person’s makeup. An undefined centre, by contrast, is described as more variable, more open to context and to what is around it. This is the system’s own account of definition and openness, not a claim being asserted here as fact, but it is the mechanical consequence of the wire being complete or not.
