What Channel 10–20 is

Channel 10–20 runs between the G centre and the Throat centre, and it forms only when both Gate 10 and Gate 20 are activated in the same chart. A channel in this system is not a behaviour or a skill someone cultivates — it is a fixed wire in the bodygraph, a position that is either complete or incomplete depending on where the relevant planets sat at two calculation moments: the birth moment and the moment roughly three months prior. Nothing about a channel’s presence is chosen or built up over time. It is either there, drawn from the mechanics of the calculation, or it is not, and the diagram simply records which.

The two gates that make it

Gate 10 sits in the G centre and traces to the tenth I Ching hexagram, Lî. Gate 20 sits in the Throat centre and traces to the twentieth hexagram, Kwân. Each gate can be active on its own without forming the channel — a single active gate is a potential, a half-connection, and by itself it defines nothing. Only when both Gate 10 and Gate 20 are active together does the full channel come into being. What it defines

When Channel 10–20 forms, it defines both the G centre and the Throat centre at once. This is a channel between the G centre and the Throat centre, but the G centre is not a motor, so this pairing does not create the motor-to-Throat wiring from which type is derived — that mechanism depends on a defined motor centre reaching the Throat directly.
